Born and raised in the heart of Alief ISD, Tori DeMoss’s story is one of dedication, family, and a deep-rooted passion for education. Her journey began at Liestman Elementary in Kindergarten, then continued at Bush Elementary for grades 1 through 4. From there, she attended Miller Intermediate School and Albright Middle School, and ultimately graduated from Taylor High School in 2013. Each step along the way shaped not only her academic foundation but also her lifelong connection to the district that helped raise her.
When Tori reflects on her time as a student, one memory stands out most: her experience as a cheerleader. Cheerleading was more than just an extracurricular activity—it was a defining chapter of her youth. Through the laughter, hard work, and countless performances, Tori built lifelong friendships and learned the importance of teamwork and perseverance. These lessons would later become the foundation for her professional life.
After graduation, Tori’s inspiration to pursue a career in education came from close to home. Her mother, Kimberly DeMoss, dedicated an impressive 32 years to Alief ISD as an assistant principal, teacher, and reading interventionist. Watching her mother’s commitment and the positive influence she had on countless students deeply impacted Tori. She knew that following in her mother’s footsteps would allow her to make a difference in the same community that shaped her.
Today, Tori serves as a 7th-grade Texas history teacher and cheer coach at O'Donnell Middle School, where she continues to make a lasting impact on her students. Her classroom is more than a space for learning dates and events—it’s a place where students feel seen, supported, and inspired. For Tori, the most rewarding aspect of her work is the opportunity to build genuine connections with students and help them grow both academically and personally.
Her experiences as an Alief ISD student give her a special ability to relate to her students. “Growing up in Alief has given me a unique perspective and a deeper understanding of our student population,” she says. “This background helps me relate to my students and meet their needs more effectively.” That empathy and shared experience have made her a trusted mentor for many who seek guidance beyond the classroom.
Tori’s impact extends far beyond academics. She views her role as one that helps strengthen the community through building relationships and fostering trust. “Many students feel comfortable coming to me for guidance,” she explains. “That allows me to support them beyond the classroom.” Whether she’s coaching cheerleaders or mentoring a student who needs encouragement, Tori leads with compassion and authenticity.
Outside of work, Tori’s greatest joy comes from spending time with her two sons. They keep her grounded, balanced, and inspired. “They bring so much joy to my life,” she says. “Being their mom reminds me daily of why I do what I do.”
Her connection to Alief ISD remains strong. Teaching within the district allows her to give back directly to the community that once nurtured her own dreams. “I stay connected by continuing to serve as an educator within the district,” Tori says proudly. “Teaching in Alief allows me to give back to the same community that shaped me.”
When offering advice to current students considering a career in education, Tori’s message is heartfelt: “Be authentic and passionate. Teaching is more than a job—it’s a calling. If you truly care about students and their success, you’ll make a lasting impact.”
For Tori, success is not defined by titles or accolades, but by hard work and perseverance. “I define success as setting goals and achieving them through dedication and perseverance,” she explains. One of her proudest accomplishments is her work as cheer coach at O'Donnell Middle School. Under her leadership, the team has grown tremendously and earned several awards, including Middle School Grand Champions at the Alief Cheer Competition—a reflection of her commitment to excellence and teamwork.
Looking back, Tori credits her Alief ISD education for shaping her into the resilient and compassionate person she is today. “My education in Alief ISD taught me resilience,” she says. “It prepared me to face challenges head-on and instilled a strong sense of community and purpose.”
Tori’s message to current students, staff, and alumni is simple but powerful: “Continue to show up and be positive role models. Our students look up to us more than we realize, and the example we set can truly shape their future.”
Through her passion, dedication, and love for her community, Tori DeMoss embodies the spirit of Alief ISD—a district that not only educates but inspires generations to lead, serve, and give back. Her story serves as a reminder that when we invest in our communities, we help build brighter futures for everyone.
