Jesus Mendiola

Alief ISD takes pride in celebrating its alumni, especially those who continue to serve and give back to the community that helped shape them. One shining example is Jesus Mendiola, a Hastings High School Class of 2016 graduate, who has spent the past three years serving the district as a dedicated member of the Alief ISD Police Department. His journey from student to protector highlights the profound impact that commitment, passion, and care can have on a community.

As a police officer, Jesus’ role extends far beyond enforcing rules or responding to incidents. “My role goes beyond enforcement—it’s about building trust with students, staff, and families while ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment,” he shares. “Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a positive impact, whether it’s through mentorship, conflict resolution, or proactive safety measures. It’s a meaningful career that allows me to contribute to the well-being and growth of the next generation.”

What makes Jesus’ service truly remarkable is the balance he strikes between authority and approachability. Students see him not just as a protector, but also as a mentor and advocate—someone who cares about their safety, their success, and their sense of belonging. His presence reassures families and staff, creating an environment where everyone feels supported and valued.

Outside of his professional life, Jesus continues to live a full and engaged life. He enjoys staying active through working out, capturing moments through photography, and exploring new places. He has a love for soccer, a fondness for the color forest green, and a passion for sushi. He also treasures visiting parks throughout the Houston area, finding inspiration and peace in the natural beauty around the city. These hobbies reflect a well-rounded and thoughtful individual who brings energy, curiosity, and care to every aspect of his life.

Jesus’ journey is a powerful reminder of the lasting connection between students and their schools. Having grown up in Alief ISD, he understands firsthand the importance of a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment. Now, as an officer, he ensures that students today can experience the same sense of safety, opportunity, and community that helped shape his own success.

His dedication demonstrates how one person can make a profound difference. From offering guidance to students, mentoring peers, resolving conflicts, and ensuring the daily safety of the schools, Jesus Mendiola exemplifies the values Alief ISD strives to instill: integrity, service, and a commitment to making a positive impact.

Alief ISD celebrates Jesus not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his heart, compassion, and dedication to the community. His story serves as an inspiration to current students, showing them that the lessons learned in school extend far beyond the classroom—and that one person’s commitment to others can ripple across an entire community.

We are proud to call Jesus Mendiola an Alief alum, and we are grateful for his continued service to the district, ensuring that Alief ISD remains a safe, nurturing, and inspiring place for all students to grow and thrive.
