The Mighty Rams captured the 2026 Southwest Classic with a thrilling 26–21 victory over the Hastings Bears on October 23. In front of an energized crowd, Elsik and Hastings added another memorable chapter to a rivalry that dates back to 1976.
The matchup was part of the Great American Rivalry Series, which featured more than 100 games during its 23rd season. Hastings entered the contest leading the all-time series, 24–19, while Elsik brought a two-game winning streak into the game. The Rams kept their momentum going, battling through a close contest and finishing with a five-point win.
