Elsik High School AVID students recently had the opportunity to visit Houston Christian University (HCU), gaining valuable insight into college life and postsecondary expectations. The campus visit was a meaningful experience that aligned directly with AVID’s mission of preparing students for college readiness, academic success, and informed decision‑making beyond high school.
During the visit, students participated in a guided campus tour, explored academic facilities, and learned about the wide range of degree programs and student support services available at HCU. Admissions staff shared helpful information about the college application process, admissions requirements, financial aid, scholarships, and the importance of early planning. Students were encouraged to ask questions and reflect on how their interests and goals might align with future collegiate pathways.
Elsik AVID students also had the chance to experience the vibrant campus culture, gaining exposure to residence life, student organizations, and the resources designed to support student success. Many students expressed excitement about envisioning themselves in a college setting and left feeling more confident about their ability to pursue higher education.
