The Alief Independent School District’s Public Relations Department earned a combined 13 Star Awards and one Best of Category award during the 2026 Texas School Public Relations Association’s annual conference held in Galveston from February 16 to 19. Kristyn Hunt Cathey, Chief of Communications, served as the president of the organization for the 2025-2026 school year and led the conference. Over 800 school public relations professionals from across the state participated in the annual event held during one of the most festive times of the year in Galveston: Mardi Gras!
We’re also proud to announce that TSPRA nominated Kristyn Cathey, APR, for the National School Public Relations Association 2026 Communicator of the Year award, a well-deserved honor recognizing her leadership, service, and commitment to the profession.
