Group of students receive scholarships.

The Alief ISD Education Foundation proudly celebrated a significant milestone by awarding more than $100,000 in scholarships to deserving Alief ISD students.

This year’s total represents a $25,000 increase over last year’s scholarship offerings, demonstrating the Foundation’s continued commitment to expanding educational opportunities and helping students pursue their goals beyond high school.

While the amount awarded is worth celebrating, the true impact cannot be measured by numbers alone. Each scholarship represents a student’s hard work, a family’s encouragement, and a community’s belief in the potential of Alief ISD graduates.

The scholarships will help reduce financial barriers for students as they begin the next chapter of their educational journeys. They also serve as a reminder that when community members, businesses, sponsors, and donors invest collectively, they can create opportunities that have a lasting impact on students, families, and the broader community.

The Foundation recently hosted a joyous scholarship reception to honor the scholarship recipients, their parents and families, and the generous donors whose support helped make the awards possible. The reception provided an opportunity to recognize student achievement, celebrate their future plans, and personally connect donors with the lives being influenced by their generosity.

Scholarship Committee Co-Chair Yolanda Humphrey acknowledged the important role of the Foundation’s Board and community partners in making this year’s milestone possible.

“Reaching more than $100,000 in scholarship awards was made possible because of the support, leadership, and shared commitment of our Board, donors, and community partners. These scholarships will help our students enter the next phase of their lives with greater confidence and fewer financial obstacles. We are not simply providing financial assistance. We are investing in their potential, their education, and the futures they are working so hard to build.”

The celebration also reinforced the importance of service and the responsibility each generation has to support the one that follows.

During his closing remarks, Board Secretary Clarence Anderson encouraged students to remember the people and community that helped shape their journeys. He reflected on how that message appeared to resonate with both the students and their families.

“I believe the message resonated because it was about more than receiving a scholarship. It was a reminder that success is not only about how far you go, but also about remembering where you came from. My hope is that these students will one day return to Alief, whether through their time, leadership, mentorship, or financial support, and pour into the community that helped them become who they are today and who they will continue to become in the future.”

A special thank you goes to Scholarship Committee Chairs Yolanda Humphrey and Lupe Garcia, Board Secretary Clarence Anderson, Treasurer Jonathan Parker, and Board Liaison Li Wen Su for their leadership and dedication in organizing a meaningful and memorable reception for Alief ISD students, parents, and donors.

The Foundation is also deeply grateful to every individual, business, sponsor, and donor who continues to believe in its mission. Their generosity helps students move forward with greater confidence while reinforcing the idea that education is a shared community investment.

As the Foundation celebrates this year’s accomplishments, it is also looking toward the future. The goal is to continue building relationships with community members, local businesses, corporations, and philanthropic partners so that even more students can receive meaningful financial support.

The growth from last year’s scholarship offerings shows what is possible when people come together around a shared purpose. However, there is still more work to be done.

Supporting education is more than an act of generosity. It is an investment in the future workforce, leadership, and strength of the Alief community. Every contribution, regardless of its size, helps create new possibilities for students and allows the Foundation to expand its reach.

Congratulations to all of this year’s scholarship recipients. Your community is proud of you, believes in you, and looks forward to seeing how you will use your education, experiences, and talents to shape the future.
