• Substitutes planning to return for the 2022-2023 school year are required to attend one session and complete returning substitute paperwork before returning to a campus to work in the fall.
    • Dedicated Substitutes and individuals who plan to or would like to start the next school year working in a long term - leave, vacant, or dedicated assignment are highly encouraged to attend the May 26 session. Campuses will need you to begin working before the first day of school.
    • On June 2, 2022, the Attendance/Substitute Office will begin inactivating substitutes who have not completed returning paperwork. Inactivated substitutes will be unable to login to Absence Management until paperwork has been completed. Session dates/information will be posted on the Alief ISD website under substitute information.
    • Substitutes who do not attend a session/complete returning paperwork will have to reapply.
    • Early Bird Substitutes who attend the First Session on Thursday, May 26, 2022 will get to visit the Treasure Box on their way out the door and off to summer vacation!

Substituting in Alief ISD

  • Alief ISD seeks professionals with a desire to positively contribute to the educational experiences for students in the district. The selection process for Substitutes in Alief ISD occurs throughout the school year; interested applicants are encouraged to apply.

The Application Process

    • Complete a Substitute Application on line.

    • Upload all required documents and provide an email address for every reference.

    • Your application will be reviewed and you may be selected to continue in the application process. Note: Completion of an application does not guarantee that you will be contacted for employment.

    • If selected, you will be invited to attend a substitute screening session. Those meeting the criteria must attend a Substitute Orientation and CHAMPS training. These are required for all Alief Substitutes.

    • After completion of orientation and CHAMPS training, your Substitute Office Specialist will email you a “fast fingerprint pass” and instructions for fingerprinting.

    • Bring your fingerprint receipt to your Substitute Specialist; you will receive a badge and Substitute information.

    • Once all steps are complete, you may begin working as an Alief ISD substitute.
