Preparing Students for Tomorrow — Caring for Them Today

  • Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)/Children’s Medicaid Application and Renewal Assistance

A common belief of parents, educators, doctors, and nutritionists is that healthy students have better school attendance and a greater chance of improving their academic performance. Continuing this school year, student registration cards will include a confidential question regarding the insurance status of each child enrolled in Alief ISD, in an effort to identify every uninsured and under‐insured child, to link them with affordable health coverage.

In partnership with the Children’s Defense Fund (www.cdftexas.org), Alief ISD has adopted the 100% Campaign so that parents and guardians of uninsured children can receive help and information about applying for health coverage or assistance with the renewal process through the CHIP or Children’s Medicaid program. To participate in the program children must be either U.S. citizens, asylees, refugees, or legal permanent residents. Those who qualify have access to:

    • Comprehensive medical                        Immunizations                                                                     Vision
    •  Dental                                                Hospitalization                                                                     Prescriptions
