COVID-19 has affected communities across Texas at different levels of transmission, with urban areas impacted with positive cases at a much greater level. The safety and security of our students and staff is always our top priority.
As it relates to our graduation ceremonies, in addition to previously planned options, we are investigating additional options for potential in-person graduations. Decisions will continue to be made in conjunction with local health officials and their analysis of risk of exposure to COVID-19 in the greater Houston area. Alief ISD students, parents, staff and community’s health will be prioritized in any final in-person graduation decisions. More information will be shared soon.

Though we are apart right now for our health and safety, we at Alief ISD continue to support each other as a community, and right now, we must work together to fight COVID-19. In order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Alief ISD will be reaching out to you via email, phone, text message, and social media over the next two weeks to share vitally important guidance.
This guidance is based on what scientists know about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and it is our hope that you will continue doing all you can to follow these practices and share them with your friends and family.
Thank you for what you are doing to educate your children at home and all the efforts you’re making to keep your family healthy and safe. We know this is a difficult time. If we stand apart as a community during this stretch and continue following the public health practices we will be sharing over the coming days, we will be back together soon.
March 16 Update
Alief ISD to suspend normal operations through April 10
Alief ISD Superintendent HD Chambers has announced that Alief ISD will extend the suspension of normal district operations through Friday, April 10, in an effort to support the nation’s need to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Houston area continues to see an increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, and health officials report that this number is expected to continue to increase as more testing is made available. The greater Houston area school systems will use the week of April 6 to make any decisions on whether there is a need to extend the suspension of normal district operations beyond April 13.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol. The President has publicly shared that the community should not gather in groups larger than 10 people. The District will remain flexible as leaders roll out the plan for long-term delivery of instruction and continue to navigate the many details of this unprecedented situation.
Please continue to visit the District website and social media channels for updates. Please visit www.aliefisd.net/learn for plans to deliver instruction via online platforms. Please visit www.aliefisd.net/curbside for information on our feeding program. The health of Alief ISD students, staff and community is the District’s top priority, and District leaders are working to ensure the community has the most current information available. -
