A book club is the perfect way to get readers reading!
The book club meets twice a month on Wednesdays at 7:30 – 8:25 a.m. in the KIVA. The book club is student centered where students set the ground rules, select the book being read, and guide the meeting discussions. Students read for the joy of it while improving their reading skills. They will have the opportunity to:
- Develop a lifelong love of reading
- Improve reading comprehension
- Develop vocabulary
- Interact and build relationships around reading
Other activities will include participating in a video conference with another school, recommending high interest books for the library, and assisting with one literary campus event. This year students will begin writing responses and summarizing what they read in their reading journals.
All students need is a love of books and reading to become a member.
