Credit by Exam for acceleration- The student has no prior instruction in the grade level content areas (K-8) or course (high school) for which they wish to accelerate
- Passing standard is 80% on all applicable exams
- Exams are purchased from the University of Texas at Austin or Texas Tech University at no cost to the student
- Students in grades K-8: A student may not attempt to accelerate a specific grade level more than two times. If a student fails to meet the required standard after the second attempt, the student would be required to enroll in that grade level.
- Students in grades 9-12: A student may not attempt to earn credit by examination for a specific high school course more than two times. If a student fails to earn credit by examination for a specific high school course before the beginning of the school year in which the student would ordinarily be required to enroll in that course in accordance with the district’s prescribed course sequence, the student must satisfactorily complete the course to receive credit for the course.
