• Principal's Message:

Vinson Lewis, Principal of Kerr High School I hope the summer has been relaxing and that you are eagerly awaiting classes and the great community that we share at Kerr High School. I would like to take this time to introduce myself and let everyone know how thrilled I am to be joining the Kerr High School family. I most recently served as the principal of Elsik Ninth Grade Center and prior to that the principal of Alief Middle School. Over the past 19 years, I have also served the Alief community as a teacher, content specialist and assistant principal.
I also have the pleasure of welcoming our new assistant principal, Mrs. Paula Webber, who comes to Kerr with over 30 years of experience in education. Paula also served as an assistant principal with me at ENGC and at Alief Middle School. Together, along with our leadership team, we have been working hard this summer to make the 2017-18 school year a great success for our students!
As you make your preparations for the start of the school year, I would also like to share some important information with you.
    • Our first day of classes begin Wednesday, August 16, at 7:15 am. This will not be an early release day. Students will report to their advisory location and will receive an official schedule at that time. Please remember your summer reading assignment. Please be sure you have completed this assignment before the first day of school. If you do not have the assignment, you can visit our campus website at Kerr Summer Reading to find the appropriate assignment for your English class (listed under the Academic Resources link).
    • Open House: This year Open House take place on Tuesday, September 12, from 6:30 until 8:30. We would love to see every parent that night.
    • Parking Stickers: All students who drive and park on the Kerr campus will be required to purchase a Kerr parking sticker and to register their vehicle with our bookkeeper. Proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license are required. The cost of the sticker is $15.00.
    • If for any reason your child is not returning to Kerr, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can complete your child’s records and can accept new students from our waiting list.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to seeing you in the next few weeks. My door is always open, so please do not hesitate to contact me or stop by the school building.

    Vinson Lewis
