• Bilingual Education Program

A Bilingual education program is a full-time instructional program that addresses the language, cognitive, and affective needs of Emergent Bilingual Students. The instructional pathway uses both the students' home language and English as the medium to develop academic content and the English language . Alief ISD offers a Spanish-English program to qualifying ELLs.

Alief ISD is excited to announce the opening of the One Way Dual Language Program (OWDL) to all of our incoming Kinder students who meet the state's qualification to the required Bilingual Education Program. Starting in 2019-2020, the OWDL program will phase out the Early Exit Bilingual Education Model.

    Different Program Models

The program models offered in Alief ISD are:

    • Early-Exit Transitional (Spanish speaking Emergent Bilingual Students)
    • One Way Dual Language Program (Spanish Speaking Emergent Bilingual Students)
    • Spanish Two-Way Dual Language Immersion

Each program model offers a different program design and model.  Please visit each program page for additional information.
