NIMS Training

  • NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

    REQUIRED AND RECOMMENDED TRAINING

     

    NIMS training is required under Homeland Security Presidential Directive

    (HSPD-5) to receive federal funding, grants, training, and reimbursement of disaster recovery costs.  personnel must attend training based on their ICS role. 

    FEMA's Emergency Management Institute offers free on-line NIMS-compliant training ranging from 1 to 3 hours in length.  The ICS-300 and ICS-400 must be taught in classroom by certified NIMS Instructors.
