Budget Information

The budget reflects the allocation of revenues and expenditures to support the educational programs and services. Each school district in Texas is required by law to prepare annually a budget for the General Fund, the Debt Service Fund and the Food Service Program. The following budget documents are the original budgets adopted by the Board of Trustees. The Accounting Department performs budget reviews during the year in which budget requirements are re-evaluated and revisions are recommended to the Board. Therefore, the budget amendments are not included in the original budget documents.
Alief ISD is one of 39 school districts in the United States and one of six districts in Texas that has participated in the Association of School Business Officials' Meritorious Budget Award program and received this award for 15 years or more. Due to COVID-19, Alief did not submit a budget for the 2020-21 or 2021-22 years.
All budget documents presented below represent the approved budget.

Notice of Public Meeting to Discuss Budget and Proposed Tax Rate
The debt service budget includes expenditures of approximately $15.2 million for the retirement of the Series 2009 Qualified School Construction Bonds. The funds to pay off these bonds were collected and accumulated in escrow over the life of the series and are not expended until retired/paid. Without this payment, total expenditures would indicate a 2.17% budgeted increase for the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
