STEM Experiences

  • It’s always a great day for STEM at Horn. This fall all 4th grade students participated in our most recent PBL, where they designed an alarm system. Students learned about circuitry, conductors, insulators and coding in order to complete the project.

Students in 3rd and 4th grade also participated in the Alief STEM/ UT Tyler Wind Turbine Blade Challenge. Students researched wind turbines and designed blades that were tested at UT Tyler by their STEM students.

In addition to these wonderful opportunities, students in all grade levels are given the opportunity to experience STEM projects in class. These projects center around the four C’s of 21st century learning. Communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity are skills that all of our Horn Cubs need! We love to provide opportunities throughout the learning process for students to grow and develop these crucial skills through collaborative projects.
