The Alief ISD PASS department continues to seek out best practices in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), with the goal of transferring our knowledge to classroom teachers in conjunction with the consistent efforts of our district Counseling Department. Our desire is that all teachers endeavor to teach the "whole child." SEL is defined as "...the process through which both children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relations, and make responsible decisions." - CASEL
We accomplish this through a variety of professional development course offerings, including but not limited to:
- Trauma Informed Sessions and Trainings
- Empathy Trainings
- Restorative Practices Trainings
