  • At Alief Middle School, we are building a robust learning environment that fosters student success.  We are also committed to embracing technology to transform education and improve learning outcomes for students.  We are helping our students develop their most creative and innovative abilities so they may become students of the world.

Our teachers incorporate blended learning, small-group instruction, and SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observational Protocol) into their teaching practices.  These instructional models’ impact on teaching and learning are seen throughout our classrooms.  They provide platforms for learning, collaboration, and innovation within the modern teaching environment.

We proudly offer a credit-by-exam native-speaking Spanish elective to our 8th grade native Spanish-speakers so they may earn the equivalent of two full high school credits prior to starting their freshman year in high school.  We are the only middle school in our district to do so.  Additionally, our 8th graders may also earn high school credits in other elective classes:  art, theatre arts, health, Foundations of Fitness, and Gateway to Technology.  Other opportunities to earn more high school credits are the algebra and geometry classes.  For 7th and 8th grade students who qualify, they may take algebra, which is offered at our campus, and geometry, where they are bussed to the designated Ninth Grade Center.

Our AVID program offers students an opportunity to prepare for college and beyond.  Our Mighty Cub Fine Arts Program consists of Art, Band, Choir, Orchestra, and Theatre Arts.  The vibrant artwork is displayed for appreciation and enjoyment.  Band and orchestra students can be heard practicing pieces for upcoming competitions and performances.  Harmonious and lively tunes pleasantly radiate out from our choir room.  Theatre arts students enthusiastically perform selections from playbooks.  Our Fine Arts department provides students with many opportunities to participate in activities, i.e. competitions, concerts, holiday performances for the community, etc.  Our campus brims with talent.
