Alief Taylor High School senior Crystal “Iris” Marquez who is currently battling terminal cancer, recently walked across the graduation stage to accept her diploma. Her graduation was covered by many local and national broadcast and print news outlets.
During her special graduation ceremony, Iris gave a moving graduation speech encouraging her classmates and others to shoot for the stars and not to let anything get in the way of their dreams.
A reader of an article about Iris’s graduation reached out to the district through the district’s Let’s Chat online communication tool, requesting a transcript of her speech so that they could keep it for inspiration.
Let’s Chat is a two-way communication tool that allows you to send messages at any time to schools and district departments. District and school officials will respond within two business days to your question or comment. Have a comment to share? Visit www.AliefISD.net/Chat
