Academics

  • As an Early College, our primary focus is helping students earn their Associate Degree or up to 60 college hours while earning their high school diploma.  Therefore, we only offer articulated dual credit BIM I and BIM II CTE courses.  Upon successfully finishing these courses, students have the opportunity to earn up to 7 Microsoft certifications.

Our campus promotes a college-going culture in which all students have the opportunity to visit several colleges/universities throughout the year.  Our partnership with HCC provides various college/career opportunities for students, too.  For example, our AECHS male students participated in the M.E.N. Conference (Male Empowerment Networking) at the HCC West Loop Campus in which students learned about the power and role of education in the 21st Century. Students use their Naviance accounts which aid them in making career and college connections.  Our district recognizes our SAT Scholars and AECHS offers an SAT/TSI Prep Course and a PSAT/SAT Workshop.  SAT Boot Camps were held on Saturdays in the spring to improve our juniors scores.  Our Sea Perch and Robotics Teams earned Regional, State and National berths this year.

AECHS is also partnered with the Houston Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.  Completely organized by students, AECHS participates in 4 blood drives throughout the year.  Seniors who participate in all four blood drives earn cords to wear at their high school graduation.
