Alief ISD is excited to announce the opening of the One Way Dual Language Program (OWDL) to all of our incoming Kinder students who meet the state’s qualification standard for qualification to the required Bilingual Education Program. Starting in 2019-2020, the OWDL program will phase out the Early Exit Bilingual Education Model.
Program Description: The OWDL program is a bilingual program in which native Spanish-speaking students use their primary language and English to learn content and language.
Model Design: The Alief OWDL program aims for 50% instruction in the student’s primary language, Spanish, and 50% of the instruction in English. The language of instruction is distributed as reflected on the chart below:
