Schools that provide social programs and clubs also inspire interest in a variety of areas are especially important for students at risk of school failure or dropping out of school because these programs provide students with constructive and engaging activities.
Exposure to visual and performing arts, field trips, character education, critical thinking skills, science and technology allows students to identify personal strengths they possess in areas that would not normally be identified. Mahanay Elementary hosts numerous clubs and activities for students from Kindergarten through fourth grade. Students are invited to participate in organizations to help them grow and become better leaders.
To help decrease tardiness morning movement is led by a student group. Students continue to learn and grow in leadership through each of the clubs. Offering the various clubs and organizations helps the students to enjoy school and understand why it is important to be part of a community.
