    Counselor Pre Kinder - 1st Grade 
    Hello, My name is Mrs. Smith. I am one of the counselors here at Best Elementary. This is my first year as a School Counselor. Prior to being a counselor, I was a First Grade Teacher for 6 years and most recently I was a Math Specialist for 6 years. I truly enjoy being a school counselor!I believe my purpose in life is to help children be the best that they can be.

    Mrs. Neslyn Carty (Grades 2nd , 3rd , & 4th)



    Hello, my Name is Neslyn Carty. I serve along with Mrs. Smith as one of two counselors at Best Elementary. This is my 4th year at Best Elementary.  I have worked as a school counselor for a total of 6 years and taught in the classroom, mostly 2nd and 3rd grades for a total of 11 years. I am very passionate about my work in the educational field and love watching our children grow and achieve their goals.       

    I will be conducting classroom guidance lessons and small groups throughout the year.

    The Character Trait for the month of April is Cooperation


    Cooperation ( ko-op-er-ay-shun) is when two or more people work together so that they are all better off.
     For cooperation to work, everyone has to be an active member of the team and do what they agree to do.

Alief Counseling
  • All Alief Counselors are available to support students in the following areas:
    Guidance Curriculum - to help students develop their full educational potential; 
    Responsive Services - to intervene on behalf of any student whose immediate personal concerns or problems put the student’s continued educational, career, personal, or social development at risk;
    Individual Planning - to help students plan, monitor, and manage their own educational, career, personal, and social development; 
    System Support - to support the efforts of teachers, staff, parents, and other members of the system in promoting the educational, career, personal, and social development of students. Each of our high school campuses has a College Access Counselor to personally assist students in preparing and achieving post-secondary readiness.
