There are great things happening all around our school this month. Our Family Night this month will focus on celebrating Art, will showcase our 2nd graders in a choir concert, and will include a spring book fair. We have a community beautification project planned for our school on the 4th. We are collaborating with staff, families, and volunteers from Memorial Drive United Methodist Church to paint our bookshelves through the school. Our 4th grade students are scheduled to attend a field trip to the Health Museum as part of their focus on learning more about the career area of Health Science.
This is also an important time of the year for us regarding student performance. Students in 3rd and 4th grade will take the second reading and math DCA of the year. We use these assessments to measure student’s progress with regards to their mastery of skills as assessed on the STAAR test. Also, all ESL students will complete the different components of the state’s TELPAS assessment. These assessments measures student’s English language growth since the assessment was administered last year. Finally, the 3rd 9 weeks comes to an end on March 10th. Please pay close attention to the teacher’s comments regarding progress in core academic areas and behavior. 3rd 9 Weeks Honor’s and Fun Friday are around the corner. Stay tuned for more information. Have a restful spring break!
