Advanced Academics ProgramAlief offers many program options for advanced level students through the Advanced Academics Department. Students who are identified as gifted through the district's screening process are eligible for participation in the elementary gifted programs: PEP and Quest, Elementary AIMS, and Intermediate AIMS. Identified GT students receive GT services through thePre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) and Advanced Placement (AP) classes in middle and high school. All students may sign up for Pre-AP and AP courses through the open enrollment process.
The goal of Alief’s Advanced Academics program is to provide differentiated opportunities for students to elaborate, think originally, think flexibly, and produce new ideas as they become self-directed learners who are competent in thinking, research, and communications.
The Advanced Academics Department also works to promote college awareness and college prep through the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Program, and for college testing opportunities (PSAT, SAT & ACT).Tracy Scholz, Ed.D. - Advanced Academics Coordinator
