Landis named Houston Rockets Read Nation contest winner!

Landis Elementary was named the winner of the “Read Nation” School Book Drive sponsored by the Houston Rockets and the UPS Store. Landis is the only school in the Greater Houston Area to win this contest, and students and staff were treated to a school rally featuring the Rockets mascot, Clutch the Bear, and the Rockets Ranger. Representatives from the Rockets and the UPS Stores were on hand to celebrate with Landis.

Hastings Band receives UIL Sweepstakes A Award!

The Hastings High School Wind Ensemble competed in the UIL concert and sight-reading contest recently. They received a Division 1 rating in Concert and a Division 1 rating in sight reading, earning a Sweepstakes A award. This is the first time since 1992 the Hastings Band has earned a Sweepstakes A award, which is a Division 1 rating in Marching band, concert, and sight-reading.

Mata Intermediate rewards literary achievement with lock in

Sixth grade students play a board game as one of their activities during the Literacy Lock In at Mata Intermediate.
Mata Intermediate celebrated student achievement with the Literacy Lock in this past weekend. Students who successfully completed a reading challenge were allowed to attend the lock in. Students had to read 40 books of various genres this school year and participate in five activities that were presented to the teachers.
